常见问题
- Which browsers decode AVIF?
- Chrome 85+, Firefox 93+, Safari 16+, and Edge 90+ all decode AVIF natively. Older browsers will display an error instead.
- Why convert AVIF to JPG?
- JPEG is universally accepted by every device, photo lab, social network, and CMS. AVIF still trips up many tools and email clients.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. The browser decodes AVIF natively and re-encodes via canvas — nothing leaves your device.
- What quality setting should I pick?
- 90 keeps photos visually identical to the AVIF source. 75 is a common web-quality setting. Below 60, JPEG artefacts become visible.
- Will I lose image detail?
- AVIF can encode finer detail than JPEG at the same file size, so a roundtrip is slightly lossy at low quality. At 90+ the loss is imperceptible for photos.
- Does it run on mobile?
- Yes — Safari on iOS 16+, Chrome and Firefox on Android all decode AVIF and encode JPEG via the canvas API.
