View Image Metadata Online
Inspect every metadata field embedded in a photo — EXIF camera settings, IPTC press fields, XMP edit history, and GPS coordinates. Strictly read-only. No upload, no editing, no servers.
Drop an image to view its metadata.
What you can read
- EXIF — shutter speed, aperture, ISO, lens, focal length, white balance, capture timestamp.
- GPS — latitude, longitude, altitude, GPS timestamp (when location services were on).
- IPTC — creator, copyright, caption, keywords, location, headline.
- XMP — Adobe rating/label, edit history, software versions, custom fields.
How to view image metadata
- Drop any JPEG, HEIC, or TIFF image onto the picker.
- Click Read EXIF data to parse every embedded field.
- Browse the full metadata table. Use it to verify camera settings, check copyright, or confirm GPS.
Why a read-only viewer?
Editing metadata in place is risky — many image formats store the same field in multiple containers (EXIF, IPTC, XMP) and a partial edit leaves the image inconsistent. This tool is intentionally read-only. To remove all metadata, use the Image Meta Cleaner. To re-encode without metadata, use the EXIF Stripper.
Frequently asked questions
My photo shows no metadata — why?
It was either stripped by the platform that hosted it (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp re-encode and remove metadata) or the original camera didn't write any.
Does it parse RAW files (CR2 / NEF / ARW)?
Most TIFF-based RAW formats yes, since exifr understands TIFF directories. Proprietary maker-note blobs may show as binary.
