Song BPM Finder by Tapping
Tap along to any song to find its BPM instantly. Rolling average, history log, and copy-to-DAW format — free, offline, no upload.
A BPM calculator by tapping is the fastest way to measure tempo without software installs or audio analysis. This tool uses a rolling window average: each new tap refines the BPM estimate, and old taps age out of the window so you always get a reading that reflects the current rhythm.
Rolling window vs. simple average
A simple average treats your first tap and your hundredth tap equally — fine for machines, frustrating when you drift slightly. The rolling window discards the oldest taps so the BPM reflects what you are playing right now. Choose 4 taps for fast tempo shifts; choose 16 for rock-solid stability on constant-tempo tracks.
How to use
- Choose a window size: 4 taps for responsive, 8 for balanced, 16 for stable.
- Play your music and tap along with the beat for at least as many beats as your window size.
- Read the BPM display — it updates after every tap.
- Press R to reset between songs.

常见问题
- How does tapping calculate BPM?
- Each time you tap, the tool records a timestamp. It then calculates the average interval between your last N taps (the rolling window) and converts that to BPM: 60,000 ms ÷ average interval = BPM.
- What genres work best with a tap BPM calculator?
- Any genre with a consistent pulse works well — EDM, hip-hop, pop, rock, reggae, and Latin styles. Genres with strong rhythmic variation (jazz, classical) may require more taps for a stable reading.
- Is there a limit on how many times I can use it?
- No limit. The tool is completely free and runs in your browser with no login or usage cap.
