Shrink PDF for Email

Email services typically limit attachment sizes to 10–25 MB. When a PDF exceeds this limit, you need to reduce its size before sending. This tool removes embedded metadata and optimizes the PDF's internal structure to produce a smaller file.

The reduction works best on PDFs created by desktop applications that embed extensive creator metadata, font licensing information, and structural redundancy. Text-heavy PDFs (reports, articles, presentations) typically see the most benefit.

After compression, download the smaller PDF and check whether it falls within your email provider's attachment limit. If the document is still too large (often the case with image-heavy PDFs), you may also need to split the document using the PDF Splitter tool and send it in parts.

Processing is fully client-side using pdf-lib. Your document is never transmitted to any server.

This tool removes metadata and optimizes PDF structure (lossless). Best results on text-heavy PDFs. Image-heavy PDFs will see modest reduction.
