5K Pace & Split Calculator

Calculate your 5K running pace in min/km and min/mile. See per-km and per-mile split times to plan your race. Free, instant, no signup required.

A 5K (5 kilometres = 3.11 miles) is one of the most popular race distances in the world — from parkrun on Saturday mornings to competitive road races. Whether you want to break 20, 25, or 30 minutes, pacing correctly is the key to a strong finish.

This tool calculates your pace in both min/km and min/mile simultaneously and generates a full split table showing your expected time at every kilometre and mile marker.

To calculate 5K splits: enter 5 km (or 3.11 miles) as the distance and your target time, then click Calculate. For a 25:00 5K, your pace is 5:00 min/km (8:03 min/mile) and you should pass each km marker at 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 minutes.

Most coaches recommend running the first 1–2 km 10–15 seconds per km slower than target pace to avoid going out too hard and fading in the final kilometre. Use the split table to plan a slightly conservative first half and a strong negative-split finish.
