Extract Embedded Files from PDF

PDFs can contain embedded files — attachments stored inside the document that are invisible unless you open the PDF in an attachments-aware viewer. Extracting these files lets you access the original source documents without specialised software.

Common examples include engineering PDFs that bundle CAD files (DWG, STEP) alongside the drawing, e-invoice PDFs that contain structured XML (ZUGFeRD, Factur-X), and financial reports that attach the source XLSX data. Without a tool to extract these files, the attachments remain inaccessible.

This tool reads the /EmbeddedFiles name tree from the PDF's internal structure using PDF.js running entirely in your browser. No file is uploaded to any server. Drop your PDF, click Extract, and download each attached file individually.

Works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop and mobile.
