Pace conversion reference table
1 mile = 1.60934 km. To convert pace: min/km × 1.60934 = min/mile and min/mile ÷ 1.60934 = min/km. Common conversions:
- 5:00 min/km = 8:03 min/mile = 12.0 km/h = 7.46 mph
- 6:00 min/km = 9:40 min/mile = 10.0 km/h = 6.21 mph
- 7:00 min/km = 11:16 min/mile = 8.6 km/h = 5.33 mph
- 8:00 min/km = 12:52 min/mile = 7.5 km/h = 4.66 mph
- 4:00 min/km = 6:26 min/mile = 15.0 km/h = 9.32 mph
Treadmill speed vs outdoor pace
Treadmill speed (km/h) = 60 ÷ pace (min/km). Treadmill speed (mph) = 60 ÷ pace (min/mile). Treadmills typically set in 0.1 km/h or 0.1 mph increments, so round to the nearest tenth. Note that treadmill running is slightly easier than road running at equivalent speeds — most runners set a 1% incline to compensate for the lack of air resistance.

よくある質問
- How do I convert min/mile to min/km?
- Divide your min/mile pace by 1.60934 to get min/km. For example, 8:03 min/mile ÷ 1.60934 = 5:00 min/km. This converter does the arithmetic instantly — just type your pace and click Convert.
- How do I convert min/km to min/mile?
- Multiply your min/km pace by 1.60934 to get min/mile. For example, 5:00 min/km × 1.60934 = 8:03 min/mile. The converter also works in this direction — use the toggle to switch between the two modes.
- What treadmill speed corresponds to my outdoor running pace?
- Divide 60 by your pace in min/mile to get mph, or divide 60 by your pace in min/km to get km/h. A 5:00 min/km pace equals 12.0 km/h on the treadmill (60 ÷ 5 = 12). The converter shows both treadmill settings alongside the pace conversion.
- What is a good running pace for a 5K?
- For beginners, a 7–9 min/km (11–14 min/mile) pace is healthy and sustainable. Intermediate runners typically target 5–7 min/km (8–11 min/mile). Elite amateur runners aim for sub-5:00 min/km (sub-8:00 min/mile). The finish time table shows your projected 5K time at any pace you enter.
- Is this pace converter free and private?
- Yes — completely free with no signup required. All calculations happen in JavaScript inside your browser. No data is sent to any server. You can use it offline after the page loads.
- Why do GPS watches and race results sometimes show different units?
- Watches sold in the US and UK default to min/mile; watches in most other countries default to min/km. Race results vary by country too. This converter lets you quickly translate any pace between the two systems so you can compare times regardless of unit.
