Frequently asked questions

Does adding a border change the image dimensions?

Yes. A border of N pixels is added on all four sides, so the total width increases by 2N and the total height increases by 2N. A 1080×1350 image with a 60px border becomes 1200×1470.

What colour should I use for an Instagram white border?

Use #FFFFFF (pure white) for the cleanest result. For a slightly warm vintage feel, try #FFFAF0 (floral white) or #F5F0E8 (cream).

How wide should my Instagram border be?

For a 1080-wide image, 60–120 px creates a classic thick white border look. A 40–60 px border is subtle; 120+ px is bold and gallery-like.

Can I add a transparent border?

Yes — select PNG as output format and set the colour. However, transparent borders are only preserved in PNG files; JPEG converts transparency to white.

Is there a limit on border width?

The slider goes up to 200px. For very large images where you want a wider border, type a larger value directly into the number field behind the slider.

Can I add different width borders to each side?

No — this tool adds an equal border on all four sides. For asymmetrical borders or padding, use a full image editor like GIMP or Photoshop.
