常見問題
- Can the redacted areas be recovered?
- The solid black fill is a permanent pixel overwrite on the exported image. It cannot be recovered or reversed from the downloaded file. Unlike blur or low-opacity overlays, a solid black rectangle destroys the underlying pixel data entirely.
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. The image is drawn to an HTML Canvas element in your browser. No pixel data leaves your device.
- What image formats are supported?
- You can upload JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, and BMP files. The redacted image is downloaded as PNG to preserve transparency and avoid re-compression artefacts.
- How do I undo a redaction?
- Click the Undo button to remove the last drawn rectangle. You can undo multiple steps in sequence.
- Can I change the redaction colour?
- The default is solid black, which provides the strongest protection. You can select a different fill colour using the colour picker, but black or a high-opacity dark fill is recommended for privacy.
- Why use solid black instead of blur?
- Blur can sometimes be reversed using AI upscaling tools. A solid opaque fill permanently destroys all information in the covered area.
- What should I redact before sharing documents?
- Common sensitive areas include: full names, ID numbers, passport photos, signatures, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, license plates, home addresses, and phone numbers.
- Can I redact text in a PDF?
- This tool works on images only. For PDF redaction, use the File Metadata Cleaner or a dedicated PDF editor. Convert the PDF to an image first if needed.
