Frequently asked questions

What aspect ratios are available?

Free (keep original dimensions), 1:1 square, 16:9 widescreen, 4:3 classic, and 9:16 portrait. The crop is centred on the original image.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

No. The crop is applied by drawing a subset of the original image to a canvas — there is no re-compression until you choose a quality level. PNG output is lossless.

Can I crop multiple images at once?

Yes. Drop several files at once and click "Crop all" to process all of them with the same settings.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser. The image is read locally, cropped using the Canvas API, and downloaded directly — no network request is made.

What output formats are supported?

JPEG (smallest), PNG (lossless, supports transparency), and WebP (modern, small file). Choose "Keep original" to preserve the input format.

What is the best crop ratio for Instagram?

1:1 square works for all Instagram feed posts. Portrait 4:5 (which is close to the 4:3 preset) gets more screen space. For Stories and Reels, use 9:16.
