Preguntas frecuentes

What is HEIC format and why do iPhones use it?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It uses the HEIF standard to compress photos at roughly half the file size of JPEG with the same visual quality. iPhones and iPads default to HEIC to save storage space, but many apps and operating systems outside Apple's ecosystem cannot open HEIC files without extra software.
Does my HEIC file get uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using the heic2any JavaScript library. Your photos never leave your device — no upload, no server, no account required. This also means conversion works offline once the page has loaded.
Why can't Windows open HEIC files directly?
Windows does not include HEIC support by default. You need to install the "HEIF Image Extensions" codec from the Microsoft Store (paid on older Windows, free on Windows 11 22H2+). Converting to JPG is the fastest cross-platform fix — the resulting file opens in every viewer, editor, and social platform without any extra software.
Is there a file size or batch limit?
There is no limit imposed by this tool. The practical ceiling is your browser's available RAM. Files up to 50 MB work reliably on most devices. Batch mode processes one file at a time but you can run multiple conversions in sequence.
What quality setting should I use?
The default 90% JPEG quality is visually indistinguishable from the original HEIC for most photos while keeping file size reasonable. Use 95–100% for archival copies or if you plan further editing. Use 70–80% for email attachments and social media where file size matters more.
Can I convert HEIF files too?
Yes. HEIF (.heif) and HEIC (.heic) are closely related formats — HEIC is Apple's implementation of HEIF. Both are supported by this converter. Simply drop your .heif file and it will be converted to JPG identically to a .heic file.
