Make PDF Smaller

PDF files can accumulate bloat over time — version history embedded by editors, high-DPI image previews, embedded color profiles, and creator metadata from the authoring software. Cleaning this data out makes the file significantly smaller without changing what you see when you open the document.

This tool applies metadata removal and structural optimization using pdf-lib in your browser. The optimization is non-destructive: the visible content of your PDF remains identical. Text remains searchable, links remain clickable, and images render at the same quality.

After optimization, the download size comparison shows you how much was saved. For PDFs where the size savings are insufficient (typically because the bulk of the file is high-resolution embedded images), the tool remains a useful first step before trying other approaches.

Completely browser-based. Nothing is uploaded.

This tool removes metadata and optimizes PDF structure (lossless). Best results on text-heavy PDFs. Image-heavy PDFs will see modest reduction.
