Reduce PDF File Size

Large PDF files are inconvenient for email attachments, upload forms, and cloud storage. This tool reduces PDF file size by removing embedded metadata, author information, and redundant structural data using pdf-lib running in your browser.

The compression approach is lossless for text-based PDFs — the visible content is not changed, only the internal structure is optimized. PDFs created by word processors typically contain significant metadata and can be reduced by 10–30% through cleanup alone.

For PDFs that are large because of embedded high-resolution images, the size reduction will be more modest (metadata removal has less relative impact). In those cases, consider whether the images need to be at full resolution or whether the source document can be re-exported at a lower image quality setting.

No file is uploaded to any server. The optimization runs in your browser.

This tool removes metadata and optimizes PDF structure (lossless). Best results on text-heavy PDFs. Image-heavy PDFs will see modest reduction.
