Scan to Searchable PDF

Scanners and phone scanner apps produce image-only PDFs or JPEGs — files where the text is frozen as pixels and cannot be searched, copied, or indexed. Converting those scans to a searchable PDF unlocks the text without re-typing a single word.

This tool uses Tesseract.js — the same OCR engine trusted by archivists and document management systems — running entirely in your browser. Drop your scanned JPEG or PNG files, select the language, and click Convert. Each scanned page becomes a PDF page with a hidden OCR text layer beneath the image.

The result opens in any PDF viewer: Adobe Acrobat, Apple Preview, Chrome, or Edge. Press Ctrl+F (or ⌘+F) to search the text — it highlights exactly where the term appears in the scan.

Nothing is uploaded. The OCR model downloads once to your browser cache and works offline from then on.
