Add Bookmarks to PDF Online Free

Most PDF readers display a sidebar panel listing bookmarks (also called an outline or table of contents) that let readers jump directly to any section. PDFs exported from Word, Google Docs, or presentation software often ship without any bookmarks, forcing readers to scroll through dozens or hundreds of pages to find what they need.

This tool lets you add a complete bookmark tree to any PDF entirely in your browser. Drop your PDF, type in the section titles and their corresponding page numbers, and click Apply. The bookmarks are written directly into the PDF using pdf-lib — no server upload, no account, no fee.

If your PDF already has bookmarks, they are read automatically when you open the file. You can edit the titles, update the page numbers, add new entries, or remove ones you do not need. Use Export JSON to save the bookmark list for reuse across document versions.

Works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
